Born the week Lee surrendered to Grant. Lived in Ky, Michigan & Logan Co WV. Moved to WV to work in the coal mines when Mary Virginia was about 6 years old. She had attended kindergarden in Michigan. Scott and Alice Taylor became very active in the Pilgrim Holiness Church (Wesleyan) at Cherry Tree when the girls were quite young--a life void of worldly amusements, makeup and bobbing of the hair for the girls.

Taylor, a single man hereinafter called party of the first part and George Taylor hereinafter called party of the second part, Witnessed: That for and in consideration of the division of the land willed to the said William Taylor, George Taylor and L. S. Taylor by their brother, Albert Taylor, the party of the first part has this day sold, assigned, aliened and by these presents do convey unto the said party of the second part, all the undivided interest in and to the following described tract of land the interest herein conveyed being a two-third undivided interest, and which is bounded and described as follows, to wit: All that certain tract or parcel of land, situate, lying and being on Lost Creek a tributary of Dry Fork of Little Fork of Little Sandy Rivber in Carter County, Kentucky, and bounded as follows: . . . to a stone in the line between Taylor and Willaims on the ridge at Grave Yard, . . ..two hickories on the Taylor side and a sassafrass on the William side marked . . . containing 50 acres, more or less; the grantor Wm. Taylor holds title to a one third undivided interest conveyed herein by virtue of the will of Albert Taylor which is recorded in Will Book Nol. 2 P 229, records of Carter County Court Clerk's Office and by virture of a deed of conveyance from L. S. Taylor bearing date the __ day of ___, 19__, and of record in Volume ___page___Deed Records of Carter County, Kentucky. To have and to hold the above described tract of land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever with covenants of General Warranty. Will: Carter CO KY Will Book 2 P 229 May 28, 1918 I hereby bequeath everything that I possess which conists of one hundred and forty (140) acres of land lying in Carter County Kentucky, and a span (?) of mules to my three brothers, namely, Scott Taylor, George Taylor, and W. M. Taylor, the same to be equally divided among them.
