Whitehead gayem@cwv.net: Joseph Payne bc1720-1725 (will probated Bedford Co, VA 9/24/1803) md Phoebe (Offill?) - furnished beef - Revolutionary War He named all his children in his will): 1. Thomas married Margaret (had son, Rev. Joseph Payne who married Mary - parents of Miriam who married Robert Wheeler, s/o Anderson and Sarah (Nimmo). Rev. Joseph married many as shown in Bedford Co,VA marriages and also in Franklin Co, VA marriages. His daughter, Charlotte, married Wright McCormick 5/18/1819, Franklin Co, VA) 2. Joseph Payne bc1750-1752 married Elizabeth Slinker c1777 - was in Robertson Co, TN 3. John Payne 3/17/1754-9/14/1839 married Elizabeth Litt . He was born VA-died Sumner Co, TN (a John shown in book Wheeler Cousins) 4. Obediah Payne bc1756-1760 md 1780 in VA Jemima Oney b1760 in VA, dau/o Benjamin (charged with felony in Bedford Co, VA) - was in Tazewell, Russell Cos, VA and then Knox Co, KY) 5. James bc1760-1770 may have married twice but only one record found - Bedford Co, VA 11/29/1802 to Sally Anderson, dau/o David (She went to IN with some of children after James died and died herself 1854, Starke Co, IN. James' will proven 11/1842 says he was of county of Bedford, VA) 6. Barnett Payne bc170-1775 in VA - marriage bond 7/21/1819 in Bedford Co, VA for him and Jane Martin (don't know if married as she went by name of Jane Martin most of time). His will was proven 9/1/1845 in Franklin Co, VA. He and Jane had several children. 7. Lucy Payne married ----- Stanley 8. Elizabeth "Betsy" Payne married ----- Crabtree 9. Susannah Payne married Frederick Slinker (went to KY by 1795) 10. Nancy Payne married Aaron Brown 11. Dicey Payne married Jesse Brown
